Where is my green grass?

Hello everyone and thanks for checking back in. I know I am horrible at this whole blogging thing, but I promise in this new year I will do better!

As you all know (or at least those from up North) there is a TON of snow on the ground. It's colder than heck out there and just miserable conditions for me. I am spoiled by the kids and am pretty much an over sized lap dog right now but that will all change once I get to see green grass again.

I have been planning on going ice fishing but Dave hasn't been out much this year really and has been busy with his websites and getting stuff gathered up for teaching his Conceal Carry classes here in Minnesota. He promises he'll take me soon though. I'll make sure he takes a lot of pictures for my next post!

Well, back to playing with the kids I go!

Talk to you all later everyone.

One Pooped Pup!

Hello everyone and thanks for taking the time to check up on me.

Man am I exhausted!!! Yesterday I spent the day running the fields searching for one of those training dummies thats "supposed" to smell like a pheasant, and holey cow is that a lot of work! I shouldn't have slacked off all winter long! (even though it was nice to be inside with my other family members where its warm).

I started off really strong. I guess my nose sounded like it was going to fall off the way I was sniffing everything (Glad I wasn't in water!). As time went on however, I slowly started to get tired and just wanted to lay down and catch my breath.

Once we were done in the fields we went over to Dave's Dad's house where they also have a fellow yellow lab. His name is Buddy. Normally I can run circles around Buddy but things were different last night! I'm telling you, those fields kicked my tail!!!

Dave told me he was sorry he didn't bring the camera with for some picture updates, but he promises to bring it next time.

Well, I gotta get running. Nikki's daycare kids should be coming here pretty soon so I gotta get ready to help. Basically I lay there and let the kids climb all over here. It's a rough life I live. lol

Well, Thanks again everyone for stopping in to check up on me.

My Dogtra Collar Has Returned...

Hello everyone, and thanks for taking the time to check up on me and my progress as a hunter.
In my last blog I told about how my Dogtra collar was broken and was shipped away for repairs. Dave sent it in the the 8th of March, Dogtra recieved it on the 10th. Dogtra fixed my collar and actually had it sent out UPS THE SAME DAY!!! I was floored when I heard that. I was actually hoping for a break from that thing as it normally meens I have to get off of the couch and get to training.

It appears that my break was short lived since we're gearing up for upland bird training starting next weekend. Dave bought me a few more training aids to use so things look to be fun. I just have to work a bit more on getting used to the shooting. I still get a little jumpy when I hear a bang, but Dave says he has a plan to help me with that.

I'll be posting pictures of my progress as we go, and I look forward to posting pics with all of the birds I get to retrieve in the future.

Thanks again everyone for taking the time to read about me!

P.S. If you'd ever like to go out hunting with me, let me know. I always like meeting new friends. Even more so if you have 4 legs and a tail like I do.

Spring is HERE!!!!

Hello everyone and thanks for taking the time to check up on me. My owner has been a little slow with the updates, but I asure you he's an awesome hunting partner!

With the weather getting warmer I am starting to get antsy about getting back in the water. Dave says he's going to be trainging me this summer for pheasants and grouse instead of just waterfowl; and he mentioned something about me making a good shed dog too (whatever that means).

My dogtra collar died (aww bummer) and so I don't have to have that darn thing attached to my neck for a few weeks, but unfortunetly its looking like I will be getting either a new one, or a fixed one back from the company soon. :(

I'll make sure Dave gets to updating my blogs for me regularly, and will make sure to bite him in the butt if he falls behind again.

I look forward to posting pics, and telling hunting/training stories soon!

As always, thank you for taking the time to check up on me!

Just a day at the lake.

Today I got to see what an archery range was all about for the first time. My family spent their time shooting arrows and then chasing them. It's kind of like me playing fetch I guess, but I never see them get treats for walking down to get arrows. While the older humans are shooting, the youngest of us are stuck laying around by a tree just sitting in the shade.

My mom shot her brand new bow today for the very first time, and from what dad said, she shot pretty good. Here is a picture of mom shooting today, and a picture of her very first 3 shot group.

Once they were done shooting at the range, the rest of the day was all about me. My family took me to a local lake where I met a new friend named Diesel. Diesel is 2 months older them I am but man is he a faster swimmer then me! He whooped my butt out there chasing the training dummies. The rest of this post is going to be cut short as I am one super pooped pup to say the least and I need my sleep. I will post a few more pics before I go though. I hope you enjoy the pics, and that you check back often. I will be posting a lot more of my adventures soon!

I love the water!

Here is a picture of me playing beaver!

I will add more pics tomorrow. My dad says I gotta get off of the computer to help put my sister to bed. Remind me to post pictures of Diesel next time as I have a bad memory if its not hunting related. Goodnight everyone.

June 10th 2009

I just wanted to take the time to say hello to everyone for the first time. I am a 7 month old yellow lab named buster and coming up in my future blogs you will learn a lot more about me and my learning experiences in the hunting world. Please check back often as I will be adding a ton of new stories as well as a LOT of pictures from the field.
